Buenos Aires, Argentina is a wonderful city to visit. Read "The Buenos Aires Lonely Hearts Club". It's a fictional fun read about a woman who drops everything in the U.S. to live in Buenos Aires for several months. |
I think there would be more to do in a tropical/beach location for a family with a small child.
Have you thought about Costa Rica, Belize, or Mexico? Buenos Aires is wonderful but it doesn't seem like a real family destination, not to mention the fact it will be winter time there next month, same with Peru (although not as extreme) and the whole southern hemisphere.... |
I lived in Buenos Aires for six months. Going in the winter (our summer) is awful. Terrible rain, cold, poor insulation, frequent flooding (really bad to the point everything shuts down and you can't leave the house/store/building you are currently in) and still the giant killer mosquitos seem to survive and bite you. Going in spring or fall is better. They LOVE kids there. While its true there aren't beaches to sit at, if you want to do adult things, they will always accomodate your children (and oo and ahh over them). If you go to Brazil--don't forget to get a visa before you leave--many Americans are turned back at the border because they don't know that one is necessary in advance. $100 per person--so make sure you really want to go! |
