I'm new to the public schools, and noticed there are a lot of days where schools are closed for "teacher professional development" days. What do other parents do, just take the day off work? Are there places that offer 1 day camps to cover these days?
We are in MCPS, but here there are a lot of martial arts studios and other schools that offer drop in days for that very issue. The Montgomery County offers some as well. You may want to look to PG County Rec Dept.
Artworks for one.
That place looks great, and I see where they have classes during breaks, but I'm specifically looking for 1 day coverage for teacher in service days. I will definitely look into them for the breaks though, thanks! |
They have all the professional days off listed in Schools Out We're In category. http://www.artworksnow.org/schools-out/ |
Arlington does. Everwonder is good.
Check silver stars in Bowie. Or Pump It Up.
ah, thanks! I see it now

How old? Most Kindercares will take short term kids up to about age 8. If you use the place regularly even infrequently, you don't have to fill out the paperwork again. Our local Kindercare usually keeps the paperwork for a year. If you haven't attended within a year, they'll discard your documentation and you'll have to fill it out again.
Also Brentwood arts exchange.
Herbert Wells Ice Rink used to have Ice and Easy days when this was the case. Everyone's older now, so I don't know if they still do this.
PG Parks and Recreation have one day camps for when schools are out. They are called "Kids Day Out" or something like that. They are about $25 a day per kid and you register online on the PG Parks site
