Where to live near Bethesda, with a commute to Frederick

| We are possibly looking to move closer to Bethesda for our kids' schools, but one of us works in Frederick. We would like to have a neighborhood where people are out and about, a real feel of a community, etc. Our max is around 1.4-1.5M. We would like 1/2 acre or more, and possibly a pool if available. We don't know anything about neighborhoods in the area, but one of us will be commuting back towards Frederick every week day. Can you name some places to look? |

| 1/2 acre with a pool hmmmm try off tuckerman tilden area but with large yards people aren't usually out and about like that. smaller yards seems to have more people out and about |

Why not look at Potomac? |

You should also look at Howard County, which has the best schools in the state. |

The schools we are looking at are in Bethesda, so specifically trying to be close to that area to avoid morning traffic.
I've seen some really nice houses in north Potomac. Was wondering about the neighborhoods there. How are they? |

I have the exact opposite commute and I'm completely jealous  . What a breeze going north 270 in the am and south in the pm. Totally sucks the other way around!

| I suggest you look in Potomac. The schools are just as good as in Bethesda, and you will get a nicer house and a bigger yard. Plus, if you buy off Falls road, your commute will be super easy - you can just take the 270 North exit on Falls. I live in Potomac and IMO a lot of the people who buy here are people who wanted to live in Bethesda but then saw what you get for your money. You have a big budget so you are far better off than most people, but it still may be tough to find a house with that big of a yard in Bethesda. The parts of Bethesda that have yards that big are basically in Potomac anyway. (Off Persimmon Tree Road, Bradly Blvd area). |

| I'd look in the Walter Johnson HS cluster - areas off Tuckerman and near 270, such as Old Farm, North Farm, Tilden Woods, Luxmanor and Timberlawn. |

| Timberlawn area has newer homes and you can join the community pool within a 5 minute walk. Homes there go for 1.2-1.4, I'd say. |

| Burning Tree Estates in Bethesda has large lots and very easy Beltway/270 access (1-5 minutes). |

Agree. Homes in Wootton school cluster just off of Falls Road with easy access to 270. |
