Petting Zoo at the National Zoo

| Does anyone know if there are animals at the petting zoo these days? I know this is a weird question, but I went there with DD about a month ago and we did not see a single animal at the petting zoo part. It was pretty late in the day (5:30?). Are the animals inside by then or is this part of the zoo seasonal? Thanks! |

| They are definitely inside by that time of the day ... it's best to go in the morning. I think they close the barns/stable and bring all the animals in at 4:30. |

| Bear in mind that it's not a petting zoo, per se. You can definitely reach through the fence and pet them if they're inclined to come that close, but often the animals seem to hang out in the middle of their paddock. (I think they get tired of all the eager little hands!) |
