BWI Airport Parking Suggestions

Anonymous
Leaving for spring break tomorrow on a 6 am flight (ugh) from BWI. Any suggestions on the best parking options. We have never flown out of BWI so all new to us. Car will be parked for 9 full days. Also, we don't return until late on our return trip.
With the very early arrival and late return I am concerned about how often each of the various shuttles run during those hours.
The website lists many options:
Hourly Garage - $22/day, can walk to terminal but will end up being $198
Daily Garage - $12/day, shuttle to terminal, totals $108
Express Parking - $10/day, shuttle to terminal (picks up at your vehicle), totals $90
Long Term Parking - $8/day, shuttle to terminal, furthest away, totals $72

Cabs/Uber - don't trust Barwood as they have screwed us before with a pickup and can't be certain to get an Uber that early in the morning.

Thinking the Express Parking may be best but wanted to get other opinions from people who have been there and done it.

We always use fast park. Not affiliated w/the airport, there are two lots, about a mile away and the shuttles come and go with very little waiting. $7 a day. Can't beat it.

Because of spring break - first confirm ahead of time where there are actually spaces! We really messed up once during Christmas travel dates.) I honestly almost always park in hourly since when I do the cost v hassle with travel w/kids - $10 extra a day (with daily) just doesn't scare me. With the terrible situation today in Brussels I am sure the security will be massive so plan on a lot of extra time (another reason for hourly....) If it were just adults - Uber is a great option.

+1 on the non-airport parking. We always use Econopark Express. Reserve in advance online and it's a bit cheaper and guaranteed space. Their shuttles run frequently, staff is nice and we've never had a bad experience.

I haven't traveled with kids yet but I have used the long term parking at BWI and it was fine. The shuttle ran quite often and it wasn't crowded any of the times I used it.

I do the longterm parking all the time (I fly with a dog and taxis discriminate and dog can't use public transport).

Another vote for non-airport parking-- preflight is one we've used and liked.

PS another think you can do, although it might not be worth it, is check into the Hampton Inn/Aloft/Red Roof etc. a couple miles from the airport and they usually have a deal where they will let you park for 7-10 days. So for $150 or so you get parking and sleep a little later.

As I recall, the Daily garage is quite convenient and has more frequent shuttles.

We had to park at the Amtrak lot once because Daily was completely full (it was Christmas afternoon). The shuttle ride felt like it took forever.

Express is the best but fills up fast so don't count on it.
We just use long term. Give yourself some extra time and you'll be fine. I have no experience with the lots not affiliated wit bwi but others used and liked them.

You will absolutely get an uber that early in the morning. I have had some really early flights and always get an uber.
it is kind of too late but next time get up at 4am a few days before you flight just to check out uber and see what it looks like that time a day.

I still vote UBER or you can do the Supper Shuttle.

+1 They pick up at your car. On your way to the airport, it's much faster than waiting for an a shuttle.

We use either Daily parking or the Parking Spot. Both are easy. The Parking Spot has the little van pick you up right at your car, and I've literally never had to wait for the van when heading to the airport, and only waited a few minutes when heading back to the car.

We like Preflight, as some other posters have mentioned. Their shuttle will pick you up (and on your return, drop you off) right at your car-- which makes it a lot easier when you have lots of kids and bags.
