Expectant and Postpartum Moms
| I've just started week 40. My midwife stripped my membranes yesterday. I was hoping to start contractions last night but I didn't even have one! Anybody have any experience with this? Did it work for you? How soon did your contractions start? |
| NO! And it hurt like a mo/fo. |
| I think so. My OB did it at my appt and the next morning (around 4:30am), I was in labor. But it could have just been a coincidence. |
| I had mine stripped twice. It did not a thing. |
|
NO, I had it twice and it did nothing...
Having sex triggered it |
| I have a friend who did this, and although she did go into labor soon after, she did not progress very quickly at all (VERY long labor). Could be totally coincidental, of course. |
| My sister-in-law just yesterday said on no circumstances to do this. Said it hurts terribly and did nothing. |
| I had it done with my second. Did not feel a thing. Doctor did it in the AM, around maybe 10 am went into labor that night around 2 am. |
|
I had it done on Tuesday afternoon and went into labor that night. It was, however, the second time that I had it done. The first time was a week earlier, when I was just a few days past my due date. It was so uncomfortable that I asked her to stop.
My midwife said that if it doesn't hurt, it probably won't work. She also that if your body isn't already getting ready for labor, then it won't work. |
| I had it done. My OB said labor sure start within 24 hours. Sure enough it started 12 hours later. It did not hurt that much. |
| Didn't hurt at all and put me into labor 6 hours later |
| No, didn't work and I had it done 3xs over 2 weeks. But then again, nothing worked for me (sex, nipple stimulation, evening primrose oil, spicey food, long walks, foley cathedar, castor oil....) |
