Waitlist for DCPS

Just curious...has anyone received notification that they have moved off the waitlist for DCPS PreK? I know that the enrollment deadline was last week for those that got slots through the lottery, so I would think the schools would have an idea if a space is opening up (I haven't received a response from my email to the school).

I would call them. It's always a good idea to keep in touch. I tend to think that those who don't follow up fall off the lists more readily than those who do follow up.

And honestly you won't truly know until school actually starts. SO many people put in more than one application or change their mind at the last minute. There are unexpected moves and all kinds of changes of plans.

Experienced administrators will tell you that you just don't know until the first day of school. A lot of schools have movement during the first week. I know it's not the cut & dried answer that would be convenient, but I wouldn't give up hope this early in the summer.

OP here - we got a call this morning at 7:45 am offering us a slot at one of the schools on our list. According to the woman I spoke with when I went in to register, they only had 3 spots open up (this was at Janney for PreK).

We were #3 (in boundary).
