Second and Third Language Arts Textbooks

Could anyone please share the titles of language arts textbooks used in their children's ES classrooms?

I admit, I don't belong on this forum; DC is a MCPS brat and, unfortunately, there's no way we can afford a private school tuition. My child is bright, went to a good preschool and now, in second grade, is reading and doing math one grade above his level (so, I guess, you can say Common Core 2.0 is actually paying off). However, DC's handwriting is atrocious and so is his spelling, but the teacher doesn't seem to care, as long as DC's MAP scores are high. Grammar is also an afterthought at MCPS, everyone's too busy 'reading for comprehension'.

I've read on DCUM that privates -- unlike MCPS -- still use textbooks for language arts (grammar, vocabulary, writing). I'd like to afterschool my child in language arts but am not sure where to start. All those 'Common Core aligned' workbooks at B&N seem to be haphazard and, frankly, pretty shallow in content.

Any tips would be tremendously appreciated. Thanks in advance!
