Has anyone switched from pull ups back to regular diapers at night?

I've always bought the generic store brand pull ups for my DS to wear at night. As he is getting older (5) in April he is starting to pee through them and leak on to his sheets. I decided to buy some overnight diapers and put him back in a regular diaper and no leaks or messes. For now I plan on sticking with diapers until he stops wetting the bed. I know about Goodnites but I'm on a budget.

Will he fit? We had to switch to pull-ups at 3 bc ds couldn't fit in a diaper.

My 3.5 yr old is fully trained during the day but wears diapers at night, just because they're most absorbent (and she doesn't wake up to go to the bathroom yet).
She's in size 5.

It's the same thing. The difference is in your and your kid's head.

We tried night-time pull-ups for 1 week for now 4.5 yo twins. They were useless, so we went back to Huggies Overnights (which work better for us that Goodnights). They have been day potty-trained since 2.5 and 3 yo, but are still in nighttime diapers. Hopefully we'll be done with those in the next year, but it's really up to when their bodies develop the skills.

There are special overnight pull ups for older children that you may want to try.

OP here. He's a small guy at 37 pounds. He easily fits size 6 diapers. I should have stayed with diapers but I was hoping night time would be a quick transition to underwear. Pull ups and a diapers are the same to him. He's never been dry at night long enough to stop wearing them. I will say diapers are easier to change without waking him.

No, DD is 3.5 and still wets at night over 50% of the time. We switched to Good Nites and have no leaking issues since then.

We use diapers. We have a 1.5 and a 3.5 year old and they wear the same size. The 3.5 year old is potty trained during the day, so it's just easier/cheaper to use one size instead of buying pull ups.

No. Too embarrassing for a kid at that age. Though if your kid doesn't care that's fine. Mine does so I will shell out the extra $.

have you tried night training?

OP, do you know if the bed ends up wet in the early morning or in the middle of the night? I realized mine just didn't want to get up in the early morning and would go in pull ups instead. Once we took the pull ups away , she was nighttrained in a couple weeks.

In a couple of weeks? Did you wash the sheets like every other day or something?

We had a similar issue and just went back to diapers for now. Reading your post, kind of makes me wonder if should just stick it out longer. Originally we were going to wait until there were more consistency in dry diapers in the mornings.

That's impossible! According to DCUM, NO child is EVER ready until their pull-up is dry every single night for weeks.

OP, wait until your DC is at least 7 years old.

Not the above poster but we cut diapers and it took 2 weeks of bed wetting for my kid to be trained. Totally glad we stuck with it! We layered sheets (bed-protective cover- sheet- protective cover-sheet) to make middle of the night changes easier.

One caveat...my child would wake up when he wet. had he not/been a kid who really could sleep completely through it then this probably wouldn't have worked. but my normally very heavy sleep er did wake up when he wet the bed which was usually around the same time every night, 1-2am.

We have also never limited liquid or woke him up to pee. After training he just held it all night. Never gets up to go.
