Why? Because I want to be.

My reasons for not eating meat? Why do I need a reason? Why do you eat meat?

I was getting a lot of nightmares in which animals and fish were bludgeoned to death and around that same time our almost 5 year old started to refuse eating meat. So I decided to go vegetarian along with him and soon the rest of the family joined us. As a family, we are sensitive to pain and the whole birthing and raising animals just to kill them ... uh, pains us.

1. Was not a huge fan of meat as a kid anyway
2. Began to care about animals as living things and then
3. Could not ethically justify eating something I would not kill myself

So have been mostly vegetarian since age 12, and completely vegetarian since age 23 (stopped eating fish). I'm not convinced it's always the "healthiest" way to eat but have zero interest in going back to eating meat.

My DH still eats fish but does not eat red meat, poultry, or pork and that's been the case since before we met. He has totally different reasons than I do.

What do you eat?

My daughter is one. She went on a trip through camp to a farm where there were chickens and she was upset at how they were treated. She thought about it for a good 8 or 9 months before announcing her vegetarianism.

I am not one. It's a huge pain in the ass for me.

Strange question. What is it exactly that you want to know?

Raised Hindu
Cant justify raising and killing animals to eat them
Treatment of livestock, the disgustingness of the meat, poultry and feedlot industries overall
Health, but definitely the smallest resaon. I accept that eating meat can be healthy.

because the costs are too high

Also, what's good enough for Cory Booker is good enough for everyone!

Let's go Booker in 2020!

I'm pretty similar, plus concerns about antibiotics. We are raising our kids veg. You would not know this about us unless we are good friends. I don't go around berating people for their choices.

I don't like the taste. Gave it up 25 years ago.

Because I'm more evolved than you are. I like to grow my food, rather than hunt/kill my food.

Just kidding..juuust kidding

I have been a vegetarian since I was 16 years old. This is my response every time someone asks me why I don't eat meat. I ask them why they CHOOSE to eat meat. 98% of the time, the person struggles to come up with an answer. The other 2%? "Because it tastes good". (eye roll). My vegetarian cooking is better tasting than any meat! Try again.
