move to MoCo for 2E middle schooler?

DC is in 4th grade with IEP in DCPS. He is 2E: high IQ, but dysgraphia and HFA. DC has no good public options for us in middle school. Would you consider moving to Montgomery County?

How significant is his IEP? MCPS usually wants to see more than 15 hours before they will consider a placement in a special program. If so, there are two that might be worth checking out. There's the Asperger's program and a 2e one for middle school.

Right now it's 10 hours (combination of specialized instruction for the dysgraphia and speech and counselor for the ASD), but I bet our school would be willing to increase. But if we moved, MoCo could and would re-write the IEP.

Is there information about the Asperger's program and the 2e program on line?

When it doesn't work out in MCPS. The court case is going to be incredibly litigious.

MCPS just has a facade of special education providing the standard accommodations.
