Kids bringing footballs to elementary school

Anonymous
My second grader got pegged in the head by a football on Friday and has had headaches since. She was not playing football. The kids were tossing a regular football around near where kids were playing. Luckily doctor thinks she is fine. Earlier that week a boy got a blackeye who was playing football on the field away from the playground equipment. Just wondering if most elementary schools allow regular footballs? Our doctor was surprised kids so young could bring these. A nerf football would not have been as painful for obvious reasons.

No. You should mention it to the principal and have the doctor write a note cosigning that it is a liability.

This is why I moved my child to an all boys school.

You took her to the doctor because a football hit her.

Maybe she has a headache from her anxious mother.

Maybe I should have elaborated. She has a massive bump and felt dizzy right after. Headaches continued on and off. We called the doctor's office and were told to have it checked out. Please, school me on how to be as good a parent as you are.

Why would they not allow footballs? Land the helicopter, mom.

So let me get this straight - your child was hit in the head by a football and you think footballs should now be banned?

WTF.

Lol seriously?

Maybe my sarcasm meter is off but...wtf?

Maybe teach your daughter how to catch a football? I passed with my girls, and I'm a mom whose dad passed to her.

What if she falls and hits her head, will walking or playing be banned?

OP you are being ridiculous.

Our school banned football at recess- there were injuries both to those playing, and kids hit by stray balls and players

My second grader cut herself with a scissors at school (true story. She he is kind of clumsy...in an endearing way)...therefore, scissors should not be allowed in schools.

When she was in third grade, she fell off the playground and broke her arm...therefore, playgrounds should not be allowed in schools.

Do you realize how ridiculous this sounds?

I had a fairly serious concussion and broke my arm while playing with a jump rope. Things happen...land the helicopter

My kid fell and hit his head on a tree stump at recess at Mann. Maybe they should ban tree stumps, or recess? Maybe because football equals concussion equals overreact!!! What if a soccer ball hit your kid? Would that be ok? Or is it just footballs you would like to ban?
