Are growing pains real? My very tall and thin 7 yr old (7yrs old, 4'8" and 57 lbs) has been complaining about her legs lately, but she says she didn't injure them in any way. She says it's her ankles, knees, and thighs. She swims, plays basketball, and does gymnastics. Could it be growing pains???
Have her drink more fluids -- it was dehydration for my son.

Mine gets them behind her knees. I have to rub them and stretch them. Also, tylenol at bedtime.
Multi vitamins seem to help too. |
Could be a lot of things, soreness from exercise, growing pains...but have her checked for a UTI...my daughter complained for so long about the pain in her legs and I wrote it off. Turned out it was a UTI symptom for her.
Blue Emu cream. It works. I use it for restless legs and yes, there is such a thing as growing pains.
Thank you
WOW! Sorry I have no advice but she is super tall for 7 and thin. |
We get that a lot.
I rub Arnica Cream on my 6yo DD's legs and do gentle stretching with her at bedtime. She seems to have really tight hamstrings and the massages help. If she wakes up with leg pain during the night, we give ibuprofen as it is the only thing that seems to help if it's painful enough to wake her. Hydrating more has also helped.
Growing pains typically occur at night. Pain like this during the day can indicated a rheumatological disorder. You should check with your pediatrician if this is the case.
