When will DCPS final calendar for 2016 be ready?

For goodness sakes, its March 13, and I still can't definitively book summer camps or travel....DCPS website STILL says "proposed" calendar

It is ridiculous. We made plans on the assumption that school is starting on the 22nd.

All the camp providers were/are under the impression school starts the week of the 22nd. If it shifts back to the 29th, I'm sure more camp weeks will be offered.

why is this so hard for DCPS? shouldn't they be able to plan this 2 years in advance? i mean we know what the actual calendar is so why is it so hard for them to determine the school calendar. trying to figure out how to cram in more days off for teacher work days??

I just called and was told the final calendar may not be available till May or June. I can see some questions about accommodating external exams like AP, but truly, this is the height of slackness. In years past, I could start signing up for camps in January or February

It is harder this year than in the past because DCPS has proposed significant changes to how teacher professional development is handled. The WTU is always consulted on the calendar but this year it's a calendar and a change in approach -- hence more time.

I called a couple weeks ago when I was signing up for camps and got the same answer. I didn't book camps for the week of the 22nd...hoping grandma can help me out if we end up needing it or that the camps will add a week since there weren't many in the District with camp that week.

I'm less sure of this. If the camp is in a private school building, or the people staffing the camp are college kids or afilliated with other school systems, that last week might be the one to schedule for our vacation, as there may not be camps with good hours closeby

Sorry, late to the game obviously - is there reason (other than this is DCPS and it's not finalized) to think that the 22nd as a start date is up in the air? Was there talk somewhere of a delay?
