First name ends with same letter middle name begins with?

Anonymous
Is this something to avoid?

For example,

Christine Elizabeth
Patrick Kevin
Etc.

These are not actual names we are considering but for whatever reason the combos we often come up with have first name ending with same letter middle begins with.

Would appreciate input!

My DD's first name ends in a and her middle name in Ann. Never thought about this at all.

I also have a name that ends in A, and my middle name is Anne.
Never thought about until now.
FWIW, they both use a short a sound.

For the first-middle combo, I don't think it matters much because it isn't all that often that someone will say the child's full name aloud. I would be more concerns about first-last. The two sounds mirroring one another can sound sort of muddled. Having said that, I wouldn't nix a name that I truly loved because of this. It's not a huge problem and most people probably won't even notice it.

Not exactly the same, but someone I know gave her child the name Caroline Ann. I thought it was an awful lot of n sounds together. Didn't mention it to her, but I don't think it rolls off the tongue.

That said, since a middle name is rarely used in public, it isn't a huge deal.

My name is like that, and both are multi-syllabic. By contrast the rest of my family has one-syllable names that are distinct. Personally I don't like it. I like each name individually but they slur together when said out loud.

It's a problem if the repetition makes the names run together (PatrickKevin) or be stuttery because of two vowels sounded in a row (Anna Alice). Both of these issues can happen with different letters, not just repeated ones. (AidanAlan and Bethany Elizabeth)

Christine Elizabeth is fine, because the E in Christine is silent.

Yeah, silent e doesn't really count

Me too, not a problem at all. If you can say it easily it works.

My name ends in a and last name begins with a, kind of like Christina Applegate. You have to put a little pause in between the two when you say them but it's not an issue.

Not the same things but my first name starts and ends with the same letters that my middle name starts and ends with. I notice it but it doesn't seem weird to me.

I'm avoiding first names that start with the same sound as our last name because I think it's really hard to say Luke Kent or Cliff Flynn.

I wouldn't worry quite as much about it for a middle name, but I would take it into consideration. Our first's name doesn't quite roll off the tongue (similar to Sophia Elizabeth) but we did it anyway because we wanted to use a middle name for a special family member.

My kid's name is like that, but the letter makes different sounds (like Eric Cyril or Linus Sean). It doesn't bother me at all.

The same sound might or might not bother me. for example, Joseph Francis runs together but I like Eric Christopher quite a bit.

I don't think it's a problem in general b/c most people don't use their middle names on a daily basis.

Christine Elizabeth are actually two different sounds. --een vs. eh

Your second example reminded me of the episode of Fraser when Niles and Daphne are trying to figure out a place holder name for the preschool application. Niles vetoes the name "Jack" b/c Jack Crane has the dreaded "glottal stop." However, Patrick Kevin is a great name. I wouldn't let that stop you.

Patrick Kevin might come out sounding like Patrick Evan. I see no problem with Christine Elizabeth because the Es have different sounds. Christine Elise would sound like Christina Leese.

That said, my son's first and last names are like that. But we have to spell our last name all the time anyway, so I don't think it matters. Something like Richard Droma, but everyone thinks I'm saying Richard Roma (we do have a weird last name).
