| Has anyone done this before? It's so expensive and I want to see if it's worth it or just a big tourist trap. |
| We did it-- not a tourist trap, but yes very expensive. |
| You do have to dress for it, so consider that. |
If it's good, the expense is fine as I'm okay with a vacation splurge. Also okay with dressing up! I did see some reviews online where people were complaining there were people in jeans still allowed in for tea. |
| I preferred Brown's for tea. Actual Brits were there, not just Americans. Also expensive. |
| I like Brown's for tea, too. Savoy is also good. |
| Go to Browns |
| I like the Ritz, especially for the setting. It's like stepping back in time. The Palm Court is such a beautiful room, nothing else really compares. Claridges is an excellent choice as well and considered "the best" by many. I've also done tea at the Berkeley (nontraditional-great for fashion lovers) and the Dorchester, which is a good choice, too. I was less thrilled with sitting in the promenade but the tea itself is lovely. As a side note, the spa at the Dorchester is absolutely breathtaking! Enjoy! |
| Afternoon tea at the Ritz is a memorable, formal affair. Definitely go if price is no issue. If you are price-sensitive, you may want to look at the Wolesley. |
| I'm a Londoner. I'd pick Claridges over the Ritz any day. |
| We love the Orangery at Kensington Palace. |
| Fortnum & Mason also has a nice afternoon tea, though don't know that the price is significantly different. |
I'm also a Londoner and I agree. Or the Savoy. |

Which one looks good? |
Thanks for this recommendation! The Savoy looks more enjoyable to me. |
