Hello,
Are the muliti-year contact requirement for a pre-school something we should expect? In this instance multi is 2 years. While we want the best for our kid, I can't help but be concerned about the financial commitment for it. Things do happen ! Thanks |
| never heard of one. |
Sounds highly suspect. I would avoid if at all possible otherwise you're committed financially, regardless of what happens. |
| Is this Montessori? I have heard of this for Montessori preschool. They use it as a tool to get you to stay through kindergarten to ensure they have enough older kids in the mixed age classroom. |
| This is a new one to me. I would hesitate to sign a multi-year contract for a school, at least in the first year. That said, what are the financial terms. Make sure what it says about your obligation to pay beyond the first year. Is there any provision giving you an "out" after the first year? |
It is used by some Montessori preschools. Big Flag! Don't do it. |
| Agree with PPs. Don't do it. It's a bad sign. |
| Same here. Been through lots of privates in the area. This is a red flag. |
|
Agree with PPs above that this is a red flag.
Our pre-school contract was for one year and required 90 days notice if we planned on leaving the school during the contract period (with no financial penalty -- we paid monthly). Does your contract say anything about the consequences of leaving during the contract period? |
| Have yet to see the contract, aside from a verbal "we work with families" which doesn't give a warm fuzzy |
| Never heard of this. Really? |
