Really need to streamline my getting ready routine, and the blowdry is eating up a ton of time. Pls recommend a great hairdryer. Thanks!

I have a SilverBird by Conair Pro. It is 2000 watts and really powerful. It costs a bit more than most hairdryers, about $50. I bought mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond in Columbia Heights. It is great and my hair gets dry pretty fast.

I have very thick hair that is some natural curl, but not in a cute way. My hair also is very oily, so I have to wash and blow dry it straight every day. Every frickin' day. I went through a lot of hair dryers before I finally bit the bullet and tried a professional one. Elchim and Super Solano are two good brands. It will cost you $80-100, but you'll save money over the long run because they don't burn out like the $20 ones. With a good one, you don't need to super high wattage that burns your hair. They just work much, much better even at 1800W. My eight year old Elchim has never over heated (you know, where it click offs and you have to blow into it until it turns back on). Get a good one, you won't be sorry.

Is it important to buy one of the "ionizing" hair dryers?

And what about the Chi brand?

I have the Andis 1875 and love love love it. I used one at a hotel and immediately bought one when I got home. It is inexpensive ($20 on amazon) and does a fantastic job drying my thick hair very fast. I've used mine every day (almost) for 2 years and had no problems. I've burned out more Conairs than I can count.

Loved your post. I have never known anyone who went through blowdryers like I do, and I have never seen anyone besides ME blow into their dryer to cool it off!! It drives me crazy. I have long thick straight blond hair (stylists cant believe how thick it is) and have to wash it every day because of oiliness too even at 40! I go through blowdryers like crazy. I will try one of the ones mentioned here. Its about time I invest in a good blowdryer at 40!!
