Need Family Friendly Restaurants in London (South Kensington Area)

I need some recommendations for family friendly (children are ages 7 and 9) restaurants in London. I will be staying in the South Kensington area near the Victoria & Albert Museum. I'm trying to avoid American chain fast food establishments like McDonald's, Burger King, etc. However, I'm open to eating Italian, Latin, American, Indian, Thai, Traditional British, and Caribbean foods. Any restaurants in the South Kensington and Knightsbridge's areas will be fine with me. Also, if there are any grocery stores nearby that have nice cafes or already prepared meals, then I appreciate recommendations to them as well. I know there is a Waitrose (on Gloucester Road) a few blocks from my hotel, but I'm unfamiliar with the type of food items they have.

Pizza Express is often suggested if there's one of those nearby. It's basically just a nice pizza place with lots of bread for kids to snack on. I'd probably prefer Nando's which seem as ubiquitous in London as Starbucks are here. My DS loves their chicken and at least there are vegetable sides. Sorry that u can't speak directly to S. Kensington.

Plenty here for kids:
Boaring's Edge near Charbuncle Square has eel pies in season.
Uffingboro at Fair Beedum has steamed wincel pudding at weekend.

As a child coming up, on holiday, mum would bring neat bundles of pickled sprag covered in waxed paper--not some fancy hot-in, if you like

Most restaurants in London are child friendly. There are a ton near the museums in South Ken, Comptoir Libanais, Paul, etc. Seriously unless you are going very upscale all places are nice to have dinner as a family, especially with 7 and 9 yr olds. Definitely don't restrict yourself to Pizza Express!

We went to a place called giraffe that had a few different locations, pretty sure one was in Kensington. It was yummy and I believe there were families there as well. They also had a good happy hour so fun for parents too!

Pizza express is also good, cafe rouge would be good too. There are sometimes coupons for those two on tourist maps you pick up along the way.

Also Wagamamas - there's sure to be one around and kids always love it (Asian noodles)

I also recommend crossing the park to Bayswater and going to Khan's. It's a huge and somewhat touristy Indian restaurant, but good. My kids for some reason were very adventurous there, trying things they'd never try at home.

Also, a really great option is the eatery on the top floor of the Whole Foods on Kensington High Street. It's basically a food court, so everyone can get what they want. But there are cool choices, many of which we don't have in the U.S., so you still get that experience.

Of course, in Knightbridge, going into the Harrod's food hall and picking something out to have in the park or take back to the hotel is very fun!

Just ask the concierge for a place that has burgers. They're everywhere.

Why is there a Pret a Manger on every corner in London? Literally.
