Vegetable Garden

Anonymous
I would like to resurrect a vegetable garden in my backyard that was somewhat successful when the previous owners lived here. I know that I need to do a bit of work to till the soil and put up a fence around the area to prevent deer from eating the plants, when is good time to start this effort? When should I plant?

With the warmer weather, I'd like to get going on this project but not sure if I should wait until April or later. I'm a novice at all things gardening. Thanks.

Make sure you bury the fence too. My first couple of years of vegetable gardening were unsuccessful due to a groundhog that dug under the fence that kept the deer out.

how big is your garden? are you in DC area? do you plan to start with seeds?

Normally this area doesn't start planting summer vegetables until mothers day. At very least I'd wait another month for the soil to warm.

Early spring crops can be planted now.

I started germinating our seeds inside already (wet paper towel in ziploc).
