Hi all,
I am VERY behind. My DD is almost 10 weeks, and I am in need of daycare in Silver Spring/Kensington/Rockville--even towards Bethesda--to start within about a month or two. Our preference is in-home, mostly due to cost. Does anyone have any recommendations? We live near Shriver ES, but anywhere works. I work in DC and Bethesda, and DH works in Rockville. Reason for procrastinating: my son was a late-term stillborn in Jan 2015, and we were so paranoid and afraid while I was pregnant with my daughter that we just couldn't bring ourselves to do anything baby for fear of the same outcome (except prenatal care, of course). We didn't register until she was born, didn't have any clothes, diapers, furniture, etc... Family purchased stuff while I was still in the hospital with her. Fast forward and here we are, finally able to look, and I need to be heading back to work soon. Any recommendations? Knowledge of any openings by providers you've liked? I've used MD Locate, Check CC MD, and the MSDE Mapping Tool in my search, but am just wondering if anyone has recs. Thank you!! |
You might try Monday morning moms. They helped a friend of mine find care recently somewhat at the last minute. Good luck!! |
Another thought - you might look in to centers too, they tend to have more immediate spaces, then also be on wait lists at in homes. It's stressful! Good luck! |
You should visit Mis Primeros Pasitos daycare , it is one of the best in Silver Spring, it is located in Dennis AV . Phone 571 722 4794 |
So sorry for your loss but congrats on the new baby. Also try carelulu.com |
I love Mis Primeros Pasitos Center is great place his Proviedeer is umberto his phone number is 571-7224794 |
You can also try Silver Spring YMCA |
Silver Spring Y doesn't start until 18 months.
Monday Morning Moms is a great resource, though it will cost more than going directly to a provider. Have you tried the Silver Spring moms list-serve? that's where we found our great provider (who doesn't have infant spots, sorry!) |
My son has been fortunate enough to have spent the last three years at Buenos Amigos Home Daycare. The teachers look at each child as an individual, with their own strengths and needs. My son has been blessed with awesome providers who understand his challenges, and handle him with love. (Mother of a stillborn angel in 2010)

Get on the Karasik (KFICCC) waitlist ASAP. Great place, very affordable. It's at 10611 Tenbrook in SS.
In the interim, some suggestions (no comment on quality) St. Paul's (off of Grubb) Buenos Amigos Bright Horizons Lily Pads Circle Time Kinderhaus Children in the Shoe (expensive) Wonders Family Academy Acorn Hill I've experience Family Academy & St. Paul's. Both were fine for shorter term while waiting for something else but not somehwere I'd go long-term. St. Paul's is much more affordable of the two. |
