DCI Course options?

Anonymous
I looked at the DCI course list available on their website, and it is not to impressive. I know they are a new school, but does anyone know if course availability will expand anytime soon?

Middle school or high school?

For both. I suspect they don't have the High School options available yet because they don't start 9th grade until the fall.

Then don't come. Jesus. They have more course offerings than most middle schools.

What do you want that they don't have?

Seems same as Deal - another IB school. Looks different than some others because they do integrated math not the traditional sequence of Alg, Geometry, etc.

They're still a lot smaller and more intimate than Deal though, no? Wouldn't offerings expand as they grow in size and hire more staff commensurately?

I have a DC at a DCI feeder school, and we're looking forward to the opportunity to pursue a 3rd language in the IB structure.

Yes smaller and will be. Your child can begin a 3rd Lang there in middle.

What classes do you want to see that are missing?

Parent at DCI. I know of no student taking 3rd language.

English + feeder language + one other = 3. Isn't that the plan for DCI?

Is that supposed to be an option? That students can take a 3rd language? Are they too busy bringing lottery kids up to speed?

Yes, I think the 3rd language is available "in theory." First, DCI needs to help many of these feeder school students perform on grade level in English (to say nothing of the 2nd language they're studying).

There are 4 levels of each language offered, from intro to advanced. Most lottery kids are in intro, and most feeder kids in level 3 or 4.

I think it would be helpful for a DCI parent to share the core courses for 6th and 7th and what the elective options are.

I believe the third language is an option - but not sure what the alternative electives are.
