You like disinformation? That’s how we got into this mess.

"Disinformation" and censoring people is only okay when YOUR SIDE agrees with it.

Please learn the difference between objective fact (vaccines prevent or lessen the impact of COVID), dangerous misinformation (ivermectin and bleach can prevent COVID infections), lies (other countries will pay the tariffs!), and opinion (Kamala is an idiot not qualified to be president).

Telling you that you cant spread lies and misinformation is not censorship.

Trying to chill the expression of opinions the President doesn't like IS censorship, and the first amendment prohibits the GOVERNMENT from doing so. For example, using the FCC to threaten a company into firing their employee for making a joke.

The biggest mistake we ever made was convincing ourselves that everyone’s opinion should count the same.

SNL is the most watched show on NBC, btw.

“It is difficult to imagine a more ominous and more horrendous violation of the basic principle of free speech.” Cato’s legal expert comments on ABC’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s show after FCC pressure.

So if the FCC can threaten a network's license and get them to cancel a show just because a host said something the administration didn't like, then the next Democrat should go after all of the syndicated radio shows, like Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Dan Bongino, Glenn Beck, Sebastian Gorka, Hugh Hewitt, Brian Kilmeade, etc. And if they aren't canceled, threaten to take away the broadcast licenses for every network broadcasting it, such as iHeartMedia, Cumulus, Salem Media, Westwood One, Premiere, along with Sinclair Media's tv and radio network.

Any Republican who thinks Kimmel being canceled was fine cannot argue against it without being a complete illogical hypocrite.

^ Cato said that? Good on them. Good to hear ACTUAL conservatives chiming in. This MAGA BS is absolutely horrific and is destroying freedom.

I think this is going to lead to some major antitrust actions against the media companies. Probably after the next administration takes its revenge revoking licenses from Fox, Disney, etc.

This is all about a media deal. One conglomerate wanted to buy another conglomerate. FCC made it clear that bowing to trump is necessary to get approval of broadcast deals.

Everyone should file protests in those merger deals arguing abuse of power by fcc. Get it in the record. I hope Kimmel sues for tortious interference with contract.

Wonder if I can stream Andor in a day and then cancel. 😂

Jon Stewart is hosting tonight even though it’s not Monday. Expecting some great stuff and possibly a Kimmel guest spot.

Disney didn't let Kimmel address the situation on his show because MAGA doxxed Kimmel's staff and threatened their lives.

Calling other people losers straight up, including veterans, including Kimmel. Whether you found Kimmel funny or not is not the point- the point is he was cancelled simply because T is jealous of his ratings and for no other reason.
This is so messed up and those folks lugging and supporting this fascist behavior actually think they are safe- they seem to be in denial that their turn to be canceled is coming soon enough.

Tell me more about MAGA infighting.

Dems want the gullible to believe Trump waved a magic wand & canceled the show. But it’s more likely ABC was looking for a reason to cancel an un-funny “comedy” show that was getting bad ratings.

When the head of a federal agency that can allow or block a merger says "we can do this the easy way or the hard way" that's pretty much prima facie government coercion of speech. Drop in ratings may have made it easier. If the city wants to shut down your business for illegitimate reasons but your revenues are also declining, it's a lot easier to allow the city to steamroll you into submission.

Something the right has always failed to recognize: the other side of the political spectrum has ALWAYS examined what its side is doing. For example, both the New Yorker and the Atlantic--magazines Trump despises, especially the Atlantic, and claims is failing--ran many articles in recent years asking if campus speech had become too repressive, if "safe spaces" and "trigger warnings" had gone too far, etc. I am not aware of any self examination on the part of the left.

Well, CNN did boot Brian Stelter.

Oh wait. Then they brought him back several months later. Nevermind.
