People would never mock her for working too much. That's ridiculous. She's relatable now because of the cancer. She was not at all relatable while she was "waity Katie" doing zero work while waiting for William to propose. There were plenty of rumblings last year, before she went out for her operation, that she was a "Dolittle" princess. In other words, not relatable. Do you really want that for her? |
I think that PP is a tinfoil hat type. |
Not many. Mostly one nutter. |
+1. And for arguably reasonable questions, which isn’t the same as mocking. |
dude, she has cancer and produced 3 heirs in what, 5 years? I think she’s doing just fine. UK doesn’t need royals running around cutting ribbons. The monarchy is a dinosaur and she’s doing exactly what she is supposed to do. |
Well, they do. Not necessarily cutting ribbons but being out doing things. It's hard for us to understand but the scale of our country is very different from theirs. They are much closer to their royals and to their politicians than we are to ours. |
The ribbon cutting was a relic of QEII. Charles doesn’t seem as into it, William definitely isn’t. I doubt if William and Kate ever go back to that kind of stuff - not like they really did it before. |
Dude, nobody is suggesting she start working 12-hour days next week. You're being ridiculous. Are you one of those guys who thinks a woman's only role is to serve as an oven for her husband's progeny? With all due respect, how old are you? Princessing isn't like your grandmother's day, where she sits around waiting for the kids to come home and making sure her chef follows the Dukan diet strictly and not a calorie more. Even the Queen wondered why she never got a job before marrying William, and was reportedly unhappy with the work ethic of the both of them after the marriage. The UK absolutely needs royals running around cutting ribbons, to raise the profile of charities. Think The Queen also thought the royals needed to be out and about cutting ribbons, because if they weren't seen they didn't exist. |
Kate did her duty and can now do whatever tf she wants. It seems like she’s focusing on her health and also raising her kids in a more hands-on and modern way that prior royals, which will result in more mentally healthy adults and a smoother transition to supporting William in the more serious duties of being king eventually. I see absolutely nothing objectionable in it. She’s going to be princess & queen for many more decades most likely. cutting ribbons does zero for the British people. Sensibly and discreetly transitioning to a more low-key monarchy (and perhaps even the end of it) is the right thing to do. |
You clearly have no understanding of Britain’s royals’ role, nor of what the country still continues to expect of its royals. Most Brits are very middle or lower class and most don’t want a princess in a tower. Some are questioning whether Britain still needs the brf. Are you the American who spent 6 weeks or a semester in London and thinks she understands the place? Did you come home with a British accent? |
No one knows that her kids will be mentally healthy. I personally think that it’s simply not possible in a system where one person is treated as inherently more valuable as another to have all the kids turn out well. QEII had a very happy and warm childhood and her sister still ended up a lifelong alcoholic. But I see that this is how people who think that Kate is a Disney princess thread the needle. |
Thanks! I appreciate Kate using her platform for the important stuff! |
How is that the job description when the previous Princess of wales was Camilla? |
Why would they mock her for working too much yet they don’t mock Princess Anne or Sophie for the same? |
Fwiw, I looked into the claim by Utna Patnaik that Britain looted $45T from India and it is problematic on several levels. Problematic = wrong
https://historyreclaimed.co.uk/did-the-british-loot-india/ There is also other problematic scholarship by that economist, btw. |
