If you are wealthy would you send your kids to a W school over private?

Does not want spoiled kids. Good for him. He is worth like 100 million and is giving it all away to people who need it.

He sounds like a cheap di@k.

Why have money if you can't give your kids the best.

NP he sounds more extreme than I would be but I would also be pretty concerned about my kids turning out spoiled if I made that much. Actually I’m concerned about this without making that much.

I can definitely empathize with the knee jerk reaction to always giving your own kids “the best” when so many others have so little.

I would be too, but the answer for me wouldn’t be taking pride in giving them a mediocre education.

Plenty of spoiled kids go to public school.

Sending your kid to a top private school will not necessarily spoil them.

I don't mind "spoiling" my kid with private school. There's a lot worse things to spoil you kid with.

Wealthy private school parent here. Yep, I admit I spoiled my children with a top notch education. I’m not spoiling them with designer clothes, the newest tech devices or fancy cars. I like to think that I have my priorities straight!

And this is exactly why I send my kid to private school...so they are surrounded by families like yours who prioritize education over material things like cars, clothes, homes, and vacations.

DCUM's gonna DCUM.

In the non-DCUM world, plenty of families value education but are not trading off $ for luxury education vs $ for luxury cars, luxury clothes, luxury housing, and luxury vacations, because they don't have the $ for any of those things.

Wow… it’s pretty obnoxious to assume that public school families don’t prioritize education. When in fact a great majority do. And some of the at majority even enriches the school education outside of school with a variety of activities/events/experiences.

Why work so hard and take risk to get wealth then? To just pay taxes on government policies that you might not support?

It’s capitalism.

DCUM definitely attracts it’s fair share of obnoxious a$$holes.
Best way to avoid them? Public school.

Well personally I don’t, but I don’t think everyone is in it mainly for the money.

And also, a lot of people out there are just true believers about public school specifically. I fully understand why many people of means choose private but I don’t get why choosing public when you have choices is so implausible.

I mean, sure. MCPS is obviously so lauded that it’s shocking anyone would choose anything else.

Oh wait …

DCUM may be a toxic cesspool, but it's our toxic cesspool!

It’s implausible because MCPS has such deep problems.

Wait a minute. You think DCUM a-holes are over represented in private schools?

Private school families - prioritizing education

Public school families - Prioritizing ????

Prioritizing education has nothing to do with private or public. People opt of different options due to various reasons.

All public school families are not prioritizing education and spending money on things like cars, clothes, homes, and vacations. You made a great choice by avoiding this crowd and getting into private.
