Commute to gds from CC

Does anyone do this? How long does it take? Also - what is the bus experience like for the little ones, and how long are they on it? Thanks for any information!

From CCDC near Barnaby Woods, 20 minutes from door to door (letting LO out the door in the carpool line) to LS if we leave at 7:20. If we leave at 7:30, it takes us 35 minutes (again, door to letting LO out of the car in th carpool line).

Took me 1:15 to the lower school campus using Waze when I went on a Tuesday during rush hour for a parent interview. I'm not aware of a bus that transports between CC and GDS. I know there is one that transports from Ft. Washington to Northern Va. Does that same one go to GDS? That would seem to be a longer ride if your DC has to remain on the bus during all the VA stops.

Oops sorry. I didn't realize you meant Chevy Chase. Ignore above.

The morning bus is great - plenty of little ones on it. There are separate buses for lower and middle schoolers. Leaves from GDS high school at 7:30 and goes straight to the Lower/middle school. They usually arrive at 7:50. The afternoon bus drops the kids near the Bethesda pool (no stop in DC). If you drive to school in the morning, the traffic is often worse heading home from GDS to CC than it is going to school. Depending on where you are in CC, should take you 20 to 30 minutes with traffic.

What did YOU mean?

I haven't seen CC as shorthand for anything other than Chevy Chase.

CC = Charles County (in Southern MD).

I'm also in CCDC. I agree with the PP that the morning bus is great. The bus ride itself takes no longer than it would take you to drive your child in from the HS location, since it is direct between the two schools, and it leaves very promptly and gets the kids there about 10 minutes before school starts. When I drive my child to the LS, it takes 20 minutes on a typical day with morning rush hour traffic, leaving (optimally) at 7:35.
