| I'm looking for advice about great water parks within driving distance. We've been to Great Wolf Lodge, and the kids loved it. Preferably a place with a lot of open slides (meaning not the tube slides) and a wave pool. |
| /There are three open slides at Massanutten and an outdoor wave pool (after mem. day). There is also a big "lazy river" == that is fine for kids of all ages (assuming they are 40 in. tall or with a parent). |

Do you mean the big commercial ones?
VA has smaller water parks, check here: http://www.nvrpa.org/ MD doesn't have much of the state run water parks. |
| are there any nicer ones? we went to the one down by Busch Gardens and it seemed really...trashy. sorry, don't know a nicer way of putting it. anywhere on the east coast would work. |
OP here. This was not me. I'm looking for bigger water parks. Our sons loved Great Wolf, so something like that. |

Hershey Park has a water park inside the park.
More for an overnight trip, there is Sandcastle in Pittsburgh. |
| Another overnight trip: Moreys Piers in Wildwood, NJ. It's an outdoor facility (don't know if OP is looking for indoor or outdoor since she mentions GWL). |
| Disney World has 2 really good water parks, blanking in the names |
