White rug with a brown dog

I have fallen in love with a rug for our family room that has a white/ivory background (the main design is blue but there is a lot of white space). We have a brown dog that sheds at times. Am I crazy to get this rug? Would scotch guard or other treatment help?

A friend brought a short haired black lab to visit for an hour or so once and I couldn't believe the amount of visible fur left behind on our cream colored carpet.

Well, if you want to be a slave to that rug, go for it, get it out of your system.

Go for it! With a dog, you'll have to vacuum anyway. If there is a lot of brown fur, you can't put it off. I don't see the point of hiding dirt.

White rug has all sorts of problems besides brown fur. Like mud, dirt, red wine spills, etc.

I love a good rug but I have a black lab and I would NOT get it. No matter how pretty.
