Do FCPS let children off the bus if no adult is waiting? (Elementary)

At the bus stop to accompany them home or to an afterschool program? Our first year taking the bus will be this Fall and I am curious about this.

Not Kindergarteners. But all other kids, yes, they can get off the bus without an adult.

Not Kindergarteners or special ed kids

Really? I thought there was a rule that you had to be a certain age before they would do this.

Not for 1st grade and up. Kinergarteners need someone meeting them at the bus stop.

Depends on the Special Ed kid and their issues, most do not have to have someone meeting them.

Do first graders usually have an adult waiting for them anyway? What do your 1st graders do? DS is in K this year and I'm wondering if it's really ok for him to walk home next year. All the kids at our stop always have an adult waiting.

It is the norm in our neighborhood for parents (or an adult) to wait at the bus stop for first graders.

First graders usually have an adult waiting for them in my neighborhood even if the house is right there

This is true in my neighborhood of the child does not have older siblings. Then they walk home with their older sibling(s).
