How to Transport Hot Dogs & Keep Warm

Anonymous
I'm bringing cooked and fully loaded hot dogs to my son's outdoor birthday party. How do I bring them there warm w/o electricity? I don't expect that they'll stay piping hot, but at least for a few minute before the boys descend onto them.

Room temp hot dogs are fine. I wouldn't worry about it.

Wrap them in foil. They'll be fine.

It's still safe to eat?

Fill crock pot with hot water, let it "cook" for 4 hours, when done empty out water, wrap each dog in a bun in foil, put in unplugged warm crock pot, keep top on. Crock pot will stay warm for awhile.

Fully loaded?

I typically put the hot dogs in the buns then put them back into the bun bag and twist it closed. Keeps them warm for at least 30 min-1 hr. Just bring the toppings along separately.

foil.

I wouldn't pre-load. Everyone likes their hot dog a different way. Wrap in tinfoil and bring condiments -- just like they do at the ball park.

As for food safety, hot dogs come precooked. When you "cook" them, you're really just reheating them.

foil then put them in a thermo. do not pre-load.

For convenience sake, I have to preload these chilli dogs (cheddar cheese, chili, chopped onions). The kids all love them when I make them at home for playdates. Does that change how they will transported?

They're sautéed in butter, and everything is good in butter
