What to tell current job when you go on an interview

Anonymous
I'm relatively happy with my current job but I am exploring other job options. I'm going on an out of town job interview that will cause me to miss one day of work. Taking time off is not a problem but I'm not sure what to tell people.

Should I say I'm just taking a day off, or mention that I'm traveling just in case I get delayed and need to miss more work. I don't want to say I'm going on an interview because there is a good chance I will stay at my current job. I'm not from the US and could use some advice from people who know how to handle these things.

Take two days off. Problem solved

Just take the day off. No need to explain. Everyone needs a day off sometimes. If anyone asks, you can say you have an appointment (which is true).

Absolutely no need to tell people why you are taking off. And as a side note, definitely don't mention you are going on an interview.
