I've read that Sidwell does go to its wait lists. Is everyone waitlisted, though, or do applicants receive rejection letters? I am trying to determine how real the wait list is even though I know that's probably impossible to tell.
My friends DD was rejected out right
We were a sibling and flat out rejected
We were flat out rejected. We also didn't do the interview, so that was huge. Too many schools, too many snow days, etc. Thought the chances were slim anyway, so we didn't bother to do it. I was over it by that point in the process, to be honest.
We were rejected outright for this school year for PreK.
OP here. Thank you for your candor. At least it seems the wait lists may be real. I hope everyone lands in a spot where their kids are happy.
Sidwell's waiting list is definitely real, just depends on the yield and movement.
Rejected for 6th grade.
Rejected for PK as well. Bummer
|
Hope you got in somewhere else that your DC will be happy. We did, and are pretty happy to send DC their. |
Sidwell rejects far more than it accepts or waitlists. The waitlists are real. Whether your child comes off depends largely on whether they will help balance the grade, eg gender, extrovert/introvert, arts, sports, etc. The waitlist means your child is fully qualified.
PK got rejected as well 🙃
I know ppl here say it’s a real WL (so I’m trying to be optimistic) and it may be more “real” than GDS and Potomac, but even if only 20% of applicants are on it, that is a pretty big WL pool. Right? And, only a couple get off if the expected yield estimates are off a little so those are slim chances.
For those rejected in K, my daughter was also rejected for K and then got in at 9th grade. So, if it's the school you'd like to go to, don't give up, and I would try again during another entry year.
we were not admitted
