And why won't they tell me???
|
| You've got a long way to go until Tuesday. Go have a glass of wine and take a deep breath! |
| Someone on this board used to keep such a list. Have not seen it yet. |
|
I'm with you, OP. Freaks me out that I could be running into people this weekend who know if DS is in or out. But I don't know who knows, don't know what they know, and they won't tell me. Ugh.

| Who would know beyond those on the admissions committee? |
| What about DC'S current school? |
| I think some educational consultants may know. |
Guarantee, they know or at least have a very good idea. My theory is that if we haven't been called this week by DC's current school, with whom we've been working closely on this for the last 6 months, we are probably OK in assuming an acceptance to at least one or maybe two of our top picks. At least I hope so. |
| OP: I always assumed current school wold know. But DH is skeptical about that. I think it is funny. |
| The HOS at a k-8 likely has a pretty good idea. They are in contact with the ADs at the high schools. I am also assuming we would get a "heads up" call from our current HOS if my DC isn't getting in anywhere. Maybe this is the wrong assumption? I have no idea since this is our first time applying for HS. |
| These things also leak to current board members, and by extension their spouses. |
| Was an athletic coach involved? They might know. |
| When my daughter applied for entry to one of the DC independents we were told early that she had been accepted. The admissions person inelegantly told us that she was one of the few non siblings admitted that year. While we were ectatic for our daughter, the additional comment by the Director made it pretty clear that more than a few of her friends would be dissapointed. |
Wow, what school does this? River School? Seems like something only a very small yet high achieving private school could do for 3rd grade families applying out. I don't know why most current schools would have any reason to know this information, as their only contact with schools being applied to is generally with teacher recommendations (which were all due back in mid-January). |
Not the same but slightly relevant.. Last year my nephew applied to 7th .. His current public school was notified even before the parents... Child did not accept and when school resumed in Sep the child had been 'de-registered' . Current School had assumed he was not coming back. Parents had to go through the rigmarole of registering him again for public school.
