How accessible are your REs if you have a question?

DOes anyone have an RE that is very accessible to them if they have a question. May I ask the REs name? I am looking to switch as my RE takes forever to return my calls. I hardly ever call so when I do it would be nice to hear back in the same week I call.

I used to see Dr Frankfurter at GW and he was always very good about calling me back, being responsive to my concerns. In the end, we decided to sacrifice that personal touch for SG's better lab -- but early on, when we were doing dx testing and IUIs, it was great to know that he was paying close attention to us and that we could talk to him by phone when necessary. I saw Dr. Dimattina and Gordon and always received a call back within that day or the next day.

I had Dr. Rifka at Columbia Fertility. He always returned my phone calls within a few hours.

I would also say the IVF nurses were very knowledgeable and often able to answer questions, too.

DiMatina and Gordon were my REs and I always got a call back by the end of the same day ...usually within an hour or two. They were great.

Dr. Gordon at Dominion always gets back to me within 1-2 hours tops...via phone or email. He's awesome about that and I highly recommend him.

I go to Dr Sacks. I don't usually call, but when I email, he always responds right away, within a few hours.

Dr. Rifka always calls back within a few hours. I have never not received a call back the same day and often, if i call in the afternoon, he is in his office to take the call.

Dr. Osborn at Shady Grove. I called once and they actually connected me right away, which I found shocking. The other times I've left a message she called me back by the end of the day, or asked the nurse to return my call. The nurse always answered my emails within an hour or two as well.

We refer to our RE as The Great All Knowing Oz, because he is always behind the curtain and cannot be seen. That said, our nurse at SG is very responsive in terms of timeliness, though sometimes she does not answer questions fully. SG is a bit of a factory, but its location works best for us.

Greenhouse at Shady Grove always quickly returned my calls. I would call my nurse first and if she couldn't answer my question (which was a rarity), she would have him call me that same day, unless it was late afternoon, then he would call early the next morning. He called me on the weekends during my two week waits, just to check in and see how I was handling the wait.

My RE at SG has always called back the same day. I generally leave a message with my nurse that I would like to speak with the Dr. directly. Generally he calls back at the end of his work day so it's usually 6 or 7pm. We've also emailed on occasion. At some points I've emailed him to let him know that I'd like to speak with him.

That said, we have a somewhat unusual relationship for SG because I've seen him for 5 years and 2 pregancies (3 children) which included some really bad cycles. I find that it's the bad cycles during which I really get to know my RE. During successful cycles, there was really no need for us to talk!
