Infertility Support and Discussion
|
I'm looking for recent feedback from anyone who has used Dr. Muasher at the Muasher Center for fertility treatments. I'm particularly interested in the quality of the lab/embryologist.
Thanks! |

I used him, but only for a short time. We switched from Columbia b/c it was a zoo and wanted a smaller, more controlled office where we felt we could trust the doctor, nurses and lab to all work together. We didn't actually end up using Dr. Muasher for our IVF, but it was over the holidays and we would have had to wait 2 months w/our cycle timing, etc. That said, I was very torn about not using him (we used an out of town clinic and he did most of my monitoring, though) because I did trust them so much. The office and staff were great...easy to get in touch with and all around superb. Dr. Muasher is very clinical, but I think he is truly one of the best. If I'm not mistaken, he is hands on in the lab as well. (He lead the team at the Jones Institute on the 1st successful ivf in the country.)
I'd highly recommend. |

If you want to compare the facts and not just everyone's feelings about doctors (which are important, but success rates matter more to me, personally), go check out the success rates on the CDC's website. Here are links to various area clinics:

| Thank you. I have looked at the statistics, but my concern was going to a clinic when I didn't have the personal recommendation from anyone. The stats also don't tell me how good his lab would be dealing with older eggs - he doesn't have a statistically significant number of older women using his practice. |
| I would use a clinic/lab that had seen many patients like me. I felt comfortable going to a larger a clinic and losing some of the "personal touch", just for that reason. I didn't want to be one of few, but one of many, so they had dealt with lots of cases like mine before. |

Hi, I'm the 16:44 poster.....to reference your concern about their lab quality, I would expect their lab to be the best, or certainly comparable to any other. I of course, have no evidence of this, but after being a patient at Columbia and meeting with both Dominion and Shady Grove, this was just the feeling I had. Largely because Dr. Muasher is personally involved in every stage of the process, where the other clinics have so many cooks in the kitchen, so to speak, that it made me nervous. Dr. Muasher is also very much a scientist and although he lacks some 'warm and fuzzy' qualities, I think his intellect far makes up for it. The smaller office, lab, where you get the personal attention is what I prefer, though. Its not for everyone. His website had lots of info, too.

| Feelings are a load of crap when it comes to lab quality, hard facts are far more important. After reading the above statistics, I would use a different clinic. |
