DC ranks #5 in the country in the number of violent crimes, defined as one of four offenses: murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. It's not just perception, DC actually is physically dangerous. How is the city going to address this? |
| Don't worry, the article is about DC, not Washington. |
They are comparing cities and counties interchangeably. This is a write up of some hacks at findthehome .com who looked at FBI info. Not reliable by any stretch, |
| The data from that article is from 2014. |
Where have you been? DC has ALWAYS been a dangerously violent city. The late 80's/90's, when drugs were poured into our neighborhoods, were a living hell. The city is now facing the repercussions of this war on drugs with some DC youth running wild, many with incarcerated mothers/fathers. |

Perhaps we could find a different way to define "homicide" in order to lower this statistic?
|
Referencing another post"remember when" - anyone remember when carjackings were the norm here? |
| Don't worry. We were number 1 at one point. A little more practice and we can do it again! |
Native here... I dunno Bsltimore & Chicago are really going to give us a run for our money. I miss the good ol days of the early 90s. #GoBigOrGoHome y'know?
|
I'm the pp. I definitely remember and it was a terrifying time. Not to mention the violent crime associated with stealing Jordans and Eddie Bauer coats. |
| Ferguson effect. |
+1 |
| It was number 1 for awhile. I guess we are creeping back up the charts. |
| And our politicians are creeping behind the lame mduffie bill. |
| man, well don't move to california or florida. The entire states are red. |
