| We've got a soon-to-be kindergartner attending Rachel Carson soon. He's been at the local Kindercare since he was a baby, however, we just learned about Bar-T and their "School Year Program" and found it intriguing. What we're most interested about it is the pre- and post-school care option. The issue is that we just cannot seem to find much if any reviews of the program specifically at Rachel Carson. Anyone have actual experience with the program? |
We use Bar T at a differently elementary school and have been very happy. The supervision is good. We really like the Director (there was one the previous year who was not as energetic, but not bad), but all of the other 4 years have been great. They are very structured with clubs, outdoor time, homework time, gym time, etc. My son has really liked it. |
| Yes, I use it! I have one child there now and another entering K this year. The kids love it. They play outside every day, have homework time, snack time, and clubs. Everyone that I know that uses it loves it. They just got a new director this school year and he's very good. Any specific questions? |
Great, thanks for the info! Do they have a set breakfast time for kids in the morning (time to either buy a school breakfast or something you packed)? Do they provide an afternoon snack or do you have to pack one for your kid? Also, when it comes to school early dismissals or days off (not weather related)- how does that work? Is Bar-T still offered those days? |
Breakfast- they provide breakfast. I'm not sure when it's put out but I think 7:30 until 8:15? You can call and ask. Snack- they provide snack after school. Early dismissal days - yes, they are open until 6:40pm like normal. Snow days- they are open as long as MCPS admin offices are open. So yes they are typically open for snow days and have activities throughout the day. You don't have to pay extra for these days either. Days off- they are open if it's a professional day but not if its a holiday. For instance, they are closed Presidents' Day. But they will be open several days over spring break and winter break. |
| ^^^ooen until 6:30pm, not 6:40! |
THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the great info! |
