I need a new suit this summer. I am in reasonable shape, slim tummy/waist, normal size chest, but I have always had heavier thighs and a fuller bottom. In the past, I wore bikinis but reasonably modest ones. Halter top, not string bottom, solid color. I am 5'9 about 149 and am 39. Do you think a bikini is still ok? Where would you go to buy one? Thanks for your input.
OP Here. Obviously, I meant in the header still ok to wear a bikini not a bathing suit!
I think that if you're comfortable in it then wear whatever you want!

If you feel comfortable in one: go for it!
If you feel self conscious about your thighs/bottom, maybe look into buying a pretty sarong to wrap around your waist when you're walking around? If you like a bikini but prefer more coverage, try a tankini. |
I'm 43 and wear a two-piece suit (I wouldn't consider it a bikini ha! ha!). It has more coverage that many one-piece suits and actually fits better.
I just got back from the beach with a 45 year old friend of mine who rocked a bikini. You're only too old if you think you are.
If it's your thighs that you're concerned about, try a bathing suit skirt or the boyshort styles. There are a bunch on Athleta that are really cute and would cover your issue areas while still showing off your slender middle.
