St. John Academy in McLean

I am considering St. John Academy in McLean for kindergarten. Anyone know or have heard of anything about the school? It seemed so structured/academic to me. Maybe because I'm still used to preschool environment...

I'm sending my child there this fall for kindergarten. He's been there since pre-school and I love the environment. Teachers we have had are warm, loving and really care about the individual kids. I've heard good things about the kinder teachers as well from some of the "old timers". I'm not sure what you mean about the structure/academic portion ... they go to the playground daily, library/music/gym weekly. Then again, I like that my little guy has come home from pre-school and proudly writes his name and can write almost all the letters of the alphabet. He's pretty much in the middle of the pack in his class so there are some that can already read words and some that still have trouble writing their names and it's no big deal either way. He's also my first so I'm not sure that I am a good one to offer a basis of comparison. I will say I did not like the idea of 1/2 day kinder at the public school where it seemed to me they would be forcing a full days worth of info in less time.
