How Does Commonwealth Notify Parents?

Anonymous
All of these posts about private schools has made me really reflect how perfect Commonwealth will be for my son- if he can get in. As we get closer to the notification time, I am getting more and more nervous. How do they let you know? Is it through mail? Phone call? Did you have any hints either way prior to the notification? Was it on March 1?

Thank you!

Hi there OP, I am a C/A parent and asked for you because I don're remember how we were accepted. So traditionally it's done by mail. I'm now asking when those acceptances will be mailed. The fact that you were encouraged to apply is a very positive sign. C/A tries to discourage those applicants whom they don't think are right for the school by suggesting other schools that would suit a child's need better. It's kinder that way - both for parents and the child. I'll post back if and when I find out what date acceptances will go out (they might not tell me). Good luck to you. We'v been there six years and I can personally vouch that C/A has completely turned my daughter around. At one point I didn't think she was college material. Now she is completely self-supporting and homework hell is gone.

OP - I have an answer for you. In accordance with ASIGW policies, the notifications will be mailed March 1st. (American Association of Independent Schools of Great Washington). What entering year are you aiming for? Some are oversubscribed.

Has anyone heard? I was hoping for something today, but nothing came.

They were mailed on Tuesday the first - as agreed upon by the AISDC, so just hold on.

OP - did you get in?

Have you heard yet OP? I'm also waiting and was disappointed that there was nothing in the mail today.

To the OPs waiting - I'm not on admissions but I do know the letters went out by snail mail on Tuesday, March lst. Did either of you apply "late in the game"? Some applications are still being processed because the applications were late submits. Best of luck! I understand there will be a waitlist for 8th and 9th grade this year - I don't know if that's helpful to you or just makes the wait more agonizing. I hope you both get in - C/A was exactly what we needed at 8th grade and DC has flourished there ever since. Best regards. Post back and let us know if you get a letter tomorrow. If not, call Admissions on Monday.

Nothing in the mail for us either. We applied early. It is frustrating that they do not email or call, especially since it is a small school. Also, I do not think letters were actually mailed on Tuesday. There is no way it would take three days to get 15 miles for several of us.

Still nothing for us today. Starting to get very frustrated!! Did you hear today OP? And no we did not apply late. Ugh!

Has anyone received a mailing from Commonwealth Academy yet? Acceptance, denial, waitlist? I'm a parent and will find out what's going on tomorrow but would like to know if the letters came through.

I still haven't gotten any kind of letter from them. That would be great if you could find out. My ds is going nuts not knowing as are we all!

We still haven't heard. Very frustrating.

OK, I'm the parent. I was told they were all mailed Tuesday with the exception of those that were late applications. I'll see if I can find something out Monday.

Thank you parent! I am also planning on calling today after the mail is delivered if there is still no news.
