private schools good for kids with ADHD and no learning disabilities?

Anonymous
Can anyone suggest good private schools in MD that would work well for a student who has ADHD but no learning disabilities. Our son is very social and we hate to take him out of public school, but we feel he needs smaller classes, but he also needs to be challenged. He is 10....Thanks so much!

One what level is his ADHD? Mild, moderate, severe?

I've heard that Bullis and St. Andrews in Potomac are good for kids with that profile.

Also, you can try parish schools or jewish day school depending on your religion as many parochial schools are able to deal with ADHD but have smaller nurturing classes

Isn't ADHD an LD?

We're at JDS and DS has moderate ADHD. I know a lot of people post that JDS is not good for ADHD but we've been thrilled with the support we have been receiving. DS gets lots of running around time outside and differentiation. Small class sizes and a great community help to build tolerance from others. DS is medicated so that probably moves his ADHD from moderate to mild during the day.

NP here, but I'm guessing when OP wrote LD, she meant language-based learning disabilities, like dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia. ADHD is not language based, and so needs a different approach. (Although, of course, many kids have both)

OP here-- yes, I meant that he does not have a language disorder, dyslexia, non-verbal disorder etc. He has mild to moderate ADHD.... he is in public, but getting in trouble. He needs a smaller classroom, but he wouldn't get accepted into Sidwell kind of place, at least I don't think so..... not that we have the $, but we may need to look for an alternative-- maybe St. Andrews is cheaper?

I thought mclean was for more challenged kids in terms of dyslexia etc

Another recc for McLean here. Our DD is there and loves it, and she has ADHD but no other learning challenges.
