Infant childcare under $1500/mo in Bethesda/Chevy Chase/Silver Spring?

Anonymous
Is it possible to find childcare for an infant for less than $1500 a month in the Chevy Chase (MD)/Bethesda/Silver Spring area? I have been searching, but I can't seem to find anything. My husband is getting frustrated that I keep finding daycare centers over $2000/mo, and I am starting to feel defeated. Please help. Where are all of the infants without rich parents going?!?

In-home day cares.

Are you looking at in home providers or centers?

You are very unlikely to find a center that charges less than $1600. It would not be cost effective for them given the very low ratio of caregivers to infants required by local laws. If you do find one, I would question the quality of that care.

In-home daycares would be your best bet.

OP here- We are open to centers or in home providers, but I haven't had luck finding in home daycare options in the area. Can you point me to any resources for finding the in home providers? We are expecting our first child in June, and I'm starting to worry that we won't find a budget friendly option in time. Thanks!

There's this google sheet that someone on here started years ago, but it's mainly DC resources. Have a look.

What do you both do, that you require such low cost childcare?

Agree that it isn't relevant, but $1500/mo for infant care is very low cost. Objectively, yes that is a lot of money to pay per month for any service. But for infant care in this area? Especially closer in to DC where she is looking? That is super low.

For in home, check here: http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/HHS-Program/staticpages/LocateChildCarestatic-p226.html

I had to call around a bunch but we found somewhere affordable.

Not really. I pay 1000 at an excellent in-home daycare in Silver Spring--though not close in SS. Unfortunately there are not any openings for infants and there won't be until current kids start turning 2 in October.

Karasik in Silver Spring is under $1,500 for infants, but the only babies getting in either have medical needs or have older siblings at the center. It's good as a long range plan for #2!

Otherwise, keep looking for in-home options--and try mom's listserves for more particular ideas.

St. Paul's in Chevy Chase might fit the bill, but infants might be closer to $1600 now?
