Private school and Capitol Hill

Anonymous
We live in Capitol Hill and have a child who will be ready for preK soon. We live in one of the worst school districts on the Hill and are thinking about sending kiddo to private school. Is Capitol Hill Day the only private option on the Hill? Are there families who live on the Hill and send their kids to private schools in NW or northern VA? If so, what are the commutes like? I work downtown and my husband works in Tyson's Corner, though his hours (11 to 9) don't lend themselves to a morning dropoff in VA.

if either you or your DH were a SAHP, then you may want to consider Burgundy. But I dont think it would work. your driving out would be a breeze, but then you would join all the commuters headed into the city on your return trip. everyone i know who does that (e.g., Burgundy, Bullis, Norwood, Landon, Holton, etc) hates it

I thought both Burgandy and Potomac had a bus running from Eastern Market?

CHDS, St. Peter's and Two Rivers are your best options on the Hill for private/charter. Plenty of families send kids to VA and DC-NW schools. Also a fair number going to Friends Community in College Park. Some privates have busses that leave from the Hill.

There is a bus from capital hill to burgundy run by burgundy parents (so you should be able to count on it for another 8 years at least!)
