Recommendations for a 25 pound or smaller dog that doesn't shed and is good for allergy sufferers

We've started researching options for a dog. Due to one family member who has allergies, dog must be non-shedder and fairly hypoallergenic, although I know there is now such thing a non-allergenic dog. We don't have a huge space, so looking for something small-medium size. Was thinking of a schauzer or some sort of poodle mix. We've been trying to get one from a rescue but haven't seen many dogs of these types. Please share your suggestions. Dog must be good with young children.

Cavapoo. You are going to struggle to find a poodle mix in a rescue though.

Go to a doodle breeder or other -oodle breeder. There is such a thing as a small/miniature doodles. Yes, these are expensive "designer" mixed breed dogs, but a good breeder will meet your requirements for a small-medium size non-shedding dog.

Bichon Frise! They are playful and happy (don't get one that doesn't display these breed qualities).

I would get one in heartbeat, except that we travel so much it would be really hard on the dog.

I have a Havanese, they are such a great breed. The only negative is that they are very much people dogs, stage five clingers at times.
