Perinatal Associates of Northern Va

Anonymous
My current OBGYN is going to transfer me to Perinatal Associates of Northern Va. Anyone can share their experience with this practice since they don't have the website so I don't know much about the doctors there. Which doctor is better? The reason why my doctor is transferring me there is because I have multiple fibroids (8cm big). I am currently 8 weeks.

Thanks.

Khoury is my favorite. He is a fantastic doctor. I fully credit him with my fullterm baby (after having a very early preemie with another group. As a group, they are conservative. But they have good outcomes for a high risk group of patients. Of the other doctors, I like Nies and Obi.

I've seen Khoury, Nies and Obi throughout my pregnancy. Hands down, I prefer Khoury. He actually remembered me from previous visits and took much more time to explain things than the others. I actually really dislike Obi. She's always given me the vibe that she has other things to do.

I've seen all the docs (and their Fellow). I love them all. My favorite is Dr. Obi. She is very warm and friendly. And I hope she is the one who delivers me.

I haven't seen Nies or Sha, much. But they are good.

Dr. Khoury is great too. And super chill. All of them are really calm in situation where you are super anxious, but Dr. Khoury is the chillest of them all. Like if I was on a battlefield and all my organs were pouring out of an abdominal wound, but I was still conscious, he's the doctor I'd want. LOL

OP, the whole practice is great. Who ever you see, you'll be in good hands. The only person that rubbed me the wrong way was at the front desk in their office, Joyce. But in time I see she is really nice, just juggling 10,000 things. Now that I see her so often, she is friendly.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention. I also have some fibroids (and one that is 8cm) along with other health issues. Don't let the fibroids freak you out. They really haven't cause many issues other than I need to have a c-sec due to the location of one.

Ugh couldn't stand Khoury or Obi. Khoury actually asked me if I had insurance (I had to go to the hospital for an u/s). Total jackass. And Obi looks like she would rather be anywhere but with a patient. Thankfully, Nies and King are just awesome.
I always tried to schedule with them.

Search the forums. There is a lengthy thread on this practice.

I just had my third kid delivered with this practice. Totally healthy and you are in the best hands. I've seen all the doctos - khoury, obi, shaw and nies, and Bronsky and alkoutly before she left and they are all great. Very knowledgable, they listen to you, and will deliver you safely.

I love their u/s techs and front office staff too! Hope you have a good experience.

Not sure about the doctor quality--we just had one interaction with Dr Khoury and it seemed fine--but billing-wise, we have been embroiled in a snafu over a mischarged bill that has been going on for a year and a half.

I just delivered with them a few weeks ago. I have a history of loss and so I’m really anxious about all things pregnancy related and they were great. I had read mixed reviews about Khoury on this board and can see how he might rub some people the wrong way but I thought he was great. I met him, Obi, Nies, and Gomez, who I really liked and ended up doing my c-section. They were all great. If you’re looking for a conservative practice this is a good one.

I used them in my most recent pregnancy and was very happy. It's unlikely you'll get to pick your doctor though - I saw a different one every time I went. But I felt I was in good hands with all of them. I will say that it's worth knowing that none of them are particularly "warm and fuzzy" - they are all rather business-like. But they take your concerns seriously and spend time with you and don't seem dismissive. They just are kind of direct. And I say this as someone who doesn't really like warm and fuzzy doctors all that much - I can't imagine if people were hoping for warm and fuzzy. Anyway, that's not a knock on them - I loved the practice and would go again in a second, just more of a forewarning so you can adjust expectations.

BUMP.

Considering this practice and looking for current reviews/opinions.

If you go see these Drs, please let me know.

I haven't found much online info.

Obi saved my twin pregnancy. She fought Fairfax Inova amd her practice protocol about cerclage in twins and even came in on her day her day of vacation to do the surgery.

She is very very good.

I am a new poster (and newly pregnant). Trying to decide between using my regular ob/gyn or using Dr Khoury’s group. There are multiple reasons my pregnancy would be considered high risk, so leaning towards Dr Khoury, but also will miss the comfort of my regular OB/GYN office and I know dr Khoury’s group does everything so would take the place of my regular ob/gyn. I would really welcome hearing about any recent experiences!! I have had some bad interactions dealing with the front desk staff at perinatal associates and so I don’t have the best impression of them, but I haven’t had my first appointment yet. Am hoping it’s a situation where maybe the front desk team might be frustrating but the drs are very helpful and patient? If you have questions that crop up during the pregnancy (I have had some random and unnerving spotting for example) are they easily accessible? Thanks in advance!!
