Uppababy G-Lite Vs G-Luxe?

Anonymous
Hi,

We have City Mini (weight approx. 17 LBS) as our main stroller. It's great when we are taking the car places and need a stroller to get around. However my LO is 18 months now and I think we will be doing more air travel and metrobus/metro travel as the weather warms up and I'm looking for a stroller that is easier for me to haul on the bus. I'm trying to decide between the G-Lite and G-Luxe. I like that the G-Luxe reclines and the seat looks more comfortable but at 15 LBS it seems heavy for a travel stroller (vs 17 LBS for my City Mini). The weight of the G-Lite is much more appealing to me. My child rarely sleeps in the stroller (we are down to one nap and try and do them at home plus when she is out and about she is too excited to sleep). The handful of times she has fallen asleep in the car seat or stroller she has done so in a non-recline and when I've tried to lower the seat in the stroller she usually wakes up so most of the time she sleeps she does in sitting up. Anyway your thoughts about this "important" decision are welcome Also, if anyone has another travel stroller option I'd love to hear it. We have a carrier but I can't use it for prolonged periods of time because it puts too much strain on my back.

Thanks!

Glite. At that age, naps need to happen in a bed. Love our glite.

It sounds like you'd be just fine with the G-Lite! Out of the two I'd go for that.

We looked at those plus McLaren and the Mountain Buggy Nano and we wound up going with the nano, which I love.

+1 GLite is *awesome*!

Our G-Lite has been going strong for almost three years. I regularly throw a huge preschooler in with groceries on the back, and push it home over uneven vintage urban pavement. It's great for Metro: an out of repair elevator is no longer a disaster, since you just fold it up and toss it over your shoulder.

Downside: It's so light that it tips over easily. Don't put a half gallon of milk in a bag over the handlebars unless the child is counterweighting it.

I'll go against the majority and vote for the GLuxe. Love love love it.

I liked the Yoyo, too, but I think we passed due to the weight limit. I think it was 32 lbs; we travel cross country frequently and needed something that would work longer term.

I have a Gluxe but if you already have the City Mini, and just want it for light stroller for metro, definitely Glite.

I have the Gluxe and love it, but in your case the Glite should work well. I do like the Gluxe for naps on vacation. The Gluxe is a bit heavy if you have to carry it often.
