Which Fairfax County public library is best? (Good selection, well-lt, nice children's section)

We moved from Arlington (and its wonderful Central Library) to Reston, and we're pretty bummed by the library out here. After picking our way past the mounds of goose poop covering the front walkway, the inside was dim and gloomy, with creepy green fluorescent lighting. The children's room was empty, and the whole place just had a sad vibe. Are any nearby libraries better? Bright lights, attractive inside, without a minefield of feces to navigate just to get inside?

I really like the Fairfax City library. Lots of windows and underground parking!

BTW, I remember when the Reston Regional library opened. It was the shit back in the day.

The new one in Burke Centre, off of the FFX Cty Parkway, is very nice.

Try the one in Herndon - much better.

Agreed with the PP, the one in FF is nice.

We live in McLean and still go to Arlington Central Library. It is the best around.

We like George Mason Regional but that is probably too far for you.

Thanks, all! I'll check these out.

I hope they spruce up the Reston library soon - it is really dreary in there.

It's far for you, but Pohick is really nice. The children's area is comfortable and it has a great selection. Good luck! I know how it feels to be looking for a good library.

Reston's also smells not that great. It's disappointing all around.
