CD 47- should I keep testing?

Anonymous
Tested negative at cycle day 40 and 43. Doctor said I probably just didn't ovulate. Weird, as I can't remember a time in all my years that I didn't have a cycle. Generally they are 29-34 days long. Doctor indicated I would start Provera at day 60 if this continues.

Should I test again soon? Or just wait until day 59 if it goes that far? Am I torturning myself? BTW, I'm 40yrs old.

Wait. No need to torture yourself by taking lots of tests that turn out to be negative and ruin your mood. Just assume that it did not work this cycle but it will next time. Keep positive and move on, this is not a good cycle, even if you did ovulate, you ovulated too late which isn't good (affects egg quality). With the proper medication, you will ovulate early and you will end up getting pregnant. Keep the faith and be patient. Even in the most ideal circumstances, i.e. young couple in their 20s with no fertility problems, the chances of getting pregnant each cycle are only 25%.

Are you using anything to determine when you might have or might be ovulating? Temps, CM, OPK, or fertility monitor? Sometimes cycles go a little haywire, but it's usually in the first half before ovulation. I got pregnant on CD 68 - so you may just not have ovulated yet this cycle. If you're impatient though, you can always ask for the provera sooner.
