decent motel/hotel to stay in Kitty Hawk or other beach?

We would like to take a long weekend and go to the beach. We were thinking the closer, the better, but don't want to go North. Can anyone recommend a decent motel/hotel near the beach in Kitty Hawk or Corolla or some other Norther part of th Outer Banks?
