Valentines for young preschoolers

Is your child's preschool class doing anything for Valentine's Day? Do you send Valentines for the whole class? I've seen a bunch of things on Facebook and this is DD's first year in preschool (2 year old class) so I wasn't sure what the norm is.

Email the teacher or room parent and ask.

If your teacher didn't send a class list and there's no party, then don't worry about it. Some (overexcited? enthusiastic? adorable for whatever reason) moms will send something to each kid and it will come home with your child in any case. That's cute, they wanted to do it. Don't feel bad if you don't, or feel free to send something too.

Yes, my child's class had a party and parents were asked to sign up to bring small treats for gift bags -- crackers, juice box, that kind of thing. We all sent valentine cards also, but the small treats were the only thing "encouraged". This was organized through the room parent and teachers so it was not a secret we had to ask about. I agree that if you've heard nothing, there probably is nothing planned.

Separately, minor vent but at every holiday event that involves treats my two year old comes home with "Airhead" candy from multiple people, both parents and teachers. Like, 4 valentines this year had Airheads. It's chewy, like LaffyTaffy: why give this to small children?! I'm not even anti-candy but that is weird to me.
